The City Attorney, John Putman, is a private attorney under contract with the City to provide legal counsel to the City Council. At the Council's direction, he works with City staff on a wide range City legal issues, including contracts, city ordinances and compliance with Oregon statutes. His contract is negotiated annually and extends from July 1 through June 30.
