Until further notice, the City of Tillamook Planning and Building Department will be closed Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m.
The City Planning Department is charged with developing and enforcing city land use and planning regulations and collecting all building and development fees for projects within the city limits.
City Planner David Mattison is responsible for reviewing land use applications, site plans, conditional use permits, variances, zone changes and plan amendments. He also reviews zoning permits to ensure that they comply with city ordinances and codes, public works permits for sidewalks and driveways or sewers, as well as sign permits, both in the city and in the urban growth area. Zoning permits are required for construction in the city and urban growth area. He makes recommendations to the City Planning Commission, which administers land use rules and site development issues.
Other building and planning functions in the Tillamook urban growth area are the responsibility of the Tillamook County Community Development Department, which is located in the basement of the County Courthouse at 201 Laurel Ave., across the street from City Hall, telephone (503) 842-3408, Web site: http://www.co.tillamook.or.us/gov/comdev/
In the urban growth area, outside of the city limits, the City Planning Department is responsible for issuing zoning and public works permits for sidewalks or sewers, as well as sign permits. All other building and planning functions in the Tillamook urban growth area are the responsibility of the Tillamook County Community Development Department.
