The Tillamook Flood Mitigation Steering and Oversight Committees were established when the city’s flood mitigation plan was enacted in 2003.
The Steering Committee is comprised of 11 members, including representatives of the Tillamook City Council, Tillamook Bay Estuary and Habitat Improvement District, Tillamook Estuaries Partnership and the Tillamook Watershed Council.
Steering Committee meetings are held monthly, or as needed, in the City Council chambers at Tillamook City Hall, 210 Laurel Ave., Tillamook. The Oversight Committee is planning to meet quarterly.
The Steering Committee and Oversight Committees are responsible for maintaining the Tillamook Flood Mitigation Plan and monitoring the implementation of its goals, which are as follows:
A. Protect life and property.B. Preserve natural areas related to flooding.C. Coordinate and enhance emergency services related to flooding.D. Improve structures aimed at controlling or mitigating flooding.E. Enhance and promote public education about flooding.F. Improve and promote partnerships, coordinate and implementation of short- and long-term actions in the plan.
